Hi there!
The days are getting longer, the fields more yellow and the faces more tired. It's been a month and a half since we came back and MUWCI is up and running again.
What has been happening? Not a lot of exciting stuff. However, there has been some discussion lately about transparency and decisionmaking. Some students and faculty raised concerns and they are now heard, we are currently sitting together to make new processes.
Last friday, it was Valentine's day. Everyone buys flowers for everyone, all for a good cause (Community Fund uses the money to people on campus who have financial emergencies etc.). Some of us participated in the 'One Billion Rising'. OBR is an international annual event where people from all over the world, in over 200 countries, dance for justice. The focus is on the injustice done to women worldwide: one billion women (that's one third of the whole female population) get confronted by violence at some point in their life. Some students went to Asade, a village down the hill, to dance there with the people from the village.
A few weeks ago, two students decided to help out our librarian. Both his sons suffer from cerebral palsy, which means that they can't sit, walk or do anything on their own. The two students started a fundraiser online and made us spread the word. Due to our good communication, we reached the goal of 5000 USD in less than 24 hours! The goal is reached now, but if you still feel like donating (the money will be used by Community Fund), go ahead! (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/wheelchairs-for-arnav-and-sayan)
Theatre season is happening! Every year in February, it's Theatre Season time. Students and faculty direct plays, act, design costumes, plan the season,... Months of preperation have led to an AMAZING theatre season so far. I am genuinely impressed by prestations! The plays range from traditional Molière, to a self-written play without text, to a musical and a play in the pool. Think of something crazy, and you'll find it here!
I guess that's it for now, I'm in a highly uncreative mood and in addittion, I am pretty tired! 'Today I don't feel like doing anything', as has once been said in a song. I had two presentations due to today, so now that they're done (it went pretty well yayayayay), I feel so peaceful and relaxed.
I'll try to keep you guys updated a little more frequently
Lots of love, unicorns and rainbows
